Ahmarnya Price is a visual artist and performance maker. She draws, paints, animates, writes, directs, teaches and occasionally performs. She is an average cook, likes Paul McCartney's solo stuff and burns easily in the sun. Despite all of the above she is a pretty decent person.
Throughout her career an integral aspect of Ahmarnya's work has been collaborating with people from a variety of social, cultural backgrounds, abilities and artistic, academic disciplines. Working with these communities over the past twenty years has highlighted for her the importance of story - both individual and global. Her view is that the vast majority of narratives being presented in mainstream and popular culture lack the variety, complexity, authenticity and very real creativity that she experiences in both her own and other's lives. She craves bodies, landscapes and stories in art, on stage, in the media and in audiences that truly represent the world in which we live. Ultimately, through the crafting of small to large scale exhibitions and performances, Ahmarnya aims to make work that 'challenges the gods'.
